Literally! On Friday morning we were psycho and took the 19 mile drive up to the top of Pike's Peak. The base of the mountain is just shy of 8,000 feet and the top of the mountain is 14,110 feet. Needless to say I felt every bit of that! It wasn't until we got out of the car that I realized how little oxygen there really was. It didn't help that the temperature at the top was 35 degrees. Surprisingly,
Kaylie did great. The view from the top was breath taking. You could definitely see God's work.
As nice as it was to get up there it was just as nice to get back down on the ground. The crazy thing is that once a year thousands of people run a 26 mile race up to the top and back down. Are they stupid?!?

We were able to get up to the top before it got too over cast. The next day the weather was so bad you couldn't even see the mountains. We were glad we made it up when we did.

"America the Beautiful" was inspired by being up here.

The fudge at the summit was so good. We were starving and could have eaten all of it.

Once you are at the top of the summit you have to get a "summit donut." These well known donuts are known for the best donuts at the highest altitude. We devoured them! If you are ever up there we highly
recommend!!!

Even though the altitude was hard on me it was worth every minute. The beauty was incredibly calming and I felt blessed to be up there with my loving husband and my beautiful baby girl.
