Last day of school

It was a great year with a lot of amazing memories.  She ended the year learning way more than I ever thought she would. We are super proud of how far our little one has accomplished in the craziest five years of her little life.  Way to go baby girl!

A moment of panic

It never fails...somewhere around her birthday she gets sick.  This year I thought we were good.  She had croup a good week and a half before her birthday so I figured we were good or so I thought.  On our way home from running errands she fell asleep in the car.  If she falls asleep in the car she will not go back to sleep once you start to unbuckle her.  On this day not only did I unbuckle her but I was able to put her on the couch.  She ended up sleeping another two hours.  At that point I woke her up, she went to the bathroom and then got back on the couch and passed out again.  A nervous wreck I said a prayer knowing we were having the party even if she wasn't there.  Thankfully, she woke up and kicked out of it a good hour later.  Crisis averted and panic subsided.  I would have been ok not going through that.  I guess she was just tired out?!?

Present time

Opening presents this year was a lot of fun.  She really seemed to appreciate what she got.  I am still in disbelief knowing that I now have a five year old!

Birthday time with Marie

This year Kaylie's birthday fell on a Thursday.  Usually she would go to school but this was the day they had set for their pre-k graduation and since we made the choice to keep her in pre-k for one more year we decided to keep her home to celebrate her birthday with us.  After lunch with daddy we surprised her by taking her American Girl doll, Marie to the store to get a make over.  Normally I would not do something like this but being a special day we figured why not! 

She loved every minute of it.  She got to pick out a hair style for her.  They cut her doll's hair to even it out, brushed it and styled it.  The big surprise was when I told her Marie was also going to get her ears pierced to match Kaylie's.  Marie was taken to the back and when she returned she had earrings just like Kaylie.  This trip was worth every minute of it.  We had a lot of fun doing this.  Happy birthday baby girl!

Since it was Kaylie's birthday she got the joy of picking everything we ate.  Here is what her menu for the day consisted of.  Let me tell you...I was surprised at how healthy everything was. :)

I'm a big girl now

As a present for her fifth birthday we took Kaylie to get her ears pierced.  She wanted to do it and didn't know what it entailed so I decided to do it before she had friends tell her exactly what would happen.  She did great until right before the two ladies put in the earrings.  Her face changed, I started telling them to do it before she moved and started to cry and then it was done.  She cried for a few minutes, ran to me and I immediately tried to distract by letting her buy something.  As I was paying I asked her if she wanted to get her finger nails painted.  She was quick to say yes and loved every minute of it.  She did fantastic and sat as still as she could to make sure she didn't smudge her nails.  Jason and I were super proud of her.  It is amazing to see how much more mature/older just having earrings and nails painted can make her look.
