First day of school

Since Kaylie has had some struggles with meeting milestones and has spent a good amount of her 3 years in therapy we decided to get her evaluated for the preschool program for children with disabilities also known as PPCD. This is done through the school district so it is free if they qualify. As you can tell...she qualified. Thankfully, it was by such a slight margin they really are not sure if she will need it too long. We are pretty sure they only qualified her as a precautionary measure so we could not come back and say we had all the documentation and now she is farther behind than she was. We were pleased with there decision.

Since it is with the school district she was allowed to start the day of her 3rd birthday. We didn't think going to school for the first time was the best way to celebrate turning 3 so we started her on the 18 th. I have to say she did fantastic!!! She loved her teacher and the kids in her class. She enjoyed participating in circle time and actually talked to her teacher and the friends around her. We were so proud of her.

Birthday day (part 2)

After we got home from playing at the museum and McDonald's we went home to ride her new bike, open presents and eat.

She was so excited to get on her bike. Unfortunately, she fell the first time she was trying to get on but thankfully she was willing to get back on. It took her falling a second time for her not to want to get back on...oops.

Overall, she did great with her bike. We did most of the pushing but she seems to have the balance and coordination to stay on the bike. I can not believe she is old enough to have a bike.

Although she will wear her helmet it makes her angry. She wants to ride so she puts up with it but she complains about it the entire time.

After we came in we opened the other presents from her mommy and daddy as well as the dogs and her stuffed animals. Meow Meow and Ruff Ruff bought Kaylie these cool cars. They were designed with the Disney characters as well as Dora, Diego etc. Made them a little more girly than the Hot Wheel cars she usually plays with.

She got a My Little Pony car with a mommy and baby pony to ride in it. She loves it! She hadn't played with her other ponies much until she got them. Now she lines them all up and talks to them, brushes there hair and takes them for rides. So fun to watch her imagination at work.

Since she loves soccer we figured she had to have her own soccer goal.

Jason surprised me with this picture. I didn't know he took it until I was going through the pictures. It makes me laugh every time I see it.

Had to try again with the cupcake. She actually played with it and tried it. Much better than last year.

In this picture she is actually eating our dessert. We had gotten a chocolate brownie and she wanted to try it. She had several bites of it. She is definitely my daughter.

So proud of herself.

Children's Museum

The day of her actual birthday Jason decided to take the day off so we could spend it with our baby girl. We made it a day filled with fun. Our first stop was the children's museum. At first she was a little reserved but after we moved away from the crowds she was all over the place. It helped we were given a tip to avoid going in the morning because of the school groups. About 10 minutes after we got there they were all on there way out. After that it was pretty much empty. Definitely a bonus for us.

The museum had an area that was more suited for older kids and then an area downstairs that was for the little bits. She had so much fun running from station to station. There was so much for her to look at and so many things to keep her attention. It was a great way to spend the day.


She sat patiently while the balloon inflated. Her face was so sweet.

I was shocked she let us put this on her. She actually kept it on for a few minutes. She has come a long way.

This is simulating an ant hill. It had a bunch of different tunnels for them to crawl in and out of. It was pretty cool.

There were several mommies and babies. Too precious!

Apparently, the creepy mannequin behind her didn't seem to phase her. This is a true Kaylie moment.

After we were done we decided to take her to McDonald's so she could play and we could have a snack. There play area was huge. She had so much fun climbing around it.

For me...the best part was having her sit with us and eat cookies and apples. You appreciate it so much more when you know how hard it has been to get to that point. Definitely a great way to end the afternoon.
