Random

Random picks from the entire week.  Didn't really know how to group them so "random" was the best I could do.  I like that you can see the beauty that was around us.

I really wanted bird seed for the feeder to attract the animals.  We enjoyed watching different birds and black squirrels hang around.

The play ground was a great way to entertain the kids when we needed them a little more contained.

I had to include this picture because it is the first time she is actually swinging on her own.  She has finally figured it out.

Our world has changed.  Between the I-Pads and I-phones we had enough entertainment for all.

Other forms of entertainment came in the form of a box.

This is random if I must say so but I had to include it.  The first night we went to a local bar to have chicken wings.  First of all, I was thinking wings like we have in Texas.  They are small and meaty so when I got this I was caught off guard.  They held up to the talk and were super tasty.  It wasn't until the end of my meal that Blake showed me one of his pieces.  Don't know how this was missed but on a few of the pieces you still had some feathers for your dining pleasure.  Um....yuck!

pumpkin time

We decided it would be nice to include an afternoon for the girls to go out and an afternoon for the boys to go out.  The day the boys went out the mommies decided it would be fun to carve the pumpkins we had picked out from the patch.  The kids did great considering it was cold and drizzling.  The mommies had to do a good amount of the work but not as much as we have had to do in previous years.  Overall, the pumpkins turned out pretty good.  Both Kaylie and I were happy with the end result.

The bag was my way of keeping her from freaking out over the goop.  I loved seeing her actually want to take out the pumpkin guts.  She would yell at me if I tried to do too much.

This is the final product.  Halfway through she decided she wanted teeth.  I had to get creative since I was already done with the mouth.  Her pumpkin also has a necklace that you can't see.

This was the best we could do.  We couldn't get the fourth kiddo in the picture.

Riding Around

The owners of the house had a pontoon boat for us to rent.  We had it for the entire week and used it several different times.  We enjoyed driving around the lake as well as fishing off of the boat.  The favorite part was watching the kids drive the boat.  They ate this up.  On the last day we ventured in the rain across the lake to a restaurant for lunch.  It was crazy but fun.  Definitely created a memory we will cherish as a group for a long time.

The kids got a kick out of blowing out the fires.

She eats more and more every time we have them.  This particular time she ended up with marshmallow all over her as well as in her hair.

Since we were on our own island fishing was easy.  Jason caught a fish the first day we tried and I caught a tiny fish a few days later.  All in all we ended up with about ten fish none of which were worthy of keeping. 

Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday we went to one of the pumpkin patches.  This patch had a petting zoo, bounce house, and corn maze...a very large corn maze.  We let the kids get out their energy, picked out pumpkins, and ate some caramel apples before going home.  Definitely fun to experience fall in another state.

Her first year to put her face in one of these cut outs.  She insisted on a picture with every cut out they had.

Around the grounds of the patch were a bunch of baby kittens.  She had so much fun loving on them.  She beside herself that they actually let her pet and hold them.

I was nervous about her holding the bunny.  I envisioned the bunny freaking out, scratching her, and then being thrown by Kaylie as she screamed and ran away.  To my surprise she was calm as could be.

It makes my heart happy to see her interact with animals.  I think you can see the true beauty of a person when they are loving on an animal. 

Jason thinks this picture looks like he is about to throw the cat to her...even with that in mind I love this picture.  She looks like she is about to get the cat as a present.

I really wanted to try out this gigantic maze but no one wanted to do it with me.  It was probably for the best.  I could see getting halfway through it and having a panic attack in fear that I was never going to get out.
