Hard at work

If you know me you know I am not the most organized person.  The thought of checking out library books makes me cringe knowing I have to keep track of them and return them in a timely manner.  Not wanting to deprive my child of this experience we go anyway and bring home way more things than I can find when it is time to return them.

She has loved our library visits.  I have to put a limit on the amount of items we bring home otherwise we would bring home half the library.  This has been a good use of time on the days we have nothing to do and do not want to spend money.  We don't go a lot, mainly because we have not gotten the books back on time yet, but when we do it is good bonding time for the two of us.

I can not believe how grown up she looks in this picture!

Unexpected guests

Her creativity makes me smile.  I feel bad quite often that she doesn't have a sibling to play with but she seems to compensate for that.  As I was cleaning I turned around as she was talking to see this.  I love how Baby Puppy is not only dress but smooshed up against the table.  They were all participating in craft time.

Fearless

Since starting gymnastics Kaylie has started to become some what fearless.  I have had to do things that a mom of a five year old usually did when their child was three such as keeping them from jumping of the couch, climbing on/standing on tables, and hanging off the kitchen island.  For some reason she has struggled to understand exactly why I freaked out when she grabbed onto the edge of the island in the kitchen and pulled both of her legs up so her head would be the first thing to hit the tile floor if she fell.  As a compromise I told her to put the couch cushions down.  She was hurt I would even think she needed cushions "in case" she fell.  Hmph!!!

I am not ready for a dare devil.  I think I took for granted the fact I had a timid child that would only try things after seeing it twenty plus times.  It's kind of like when you are waiting for them to say their first word.  Once they start you are excited and then an hour later you are wishing they were back to the timid child they once were and can never get a word in or a moment of peace :).

This was taken at Lucas' birthday.  She was fearless.  The pit was a lot further down then it looks.  I actually jumped in (when no one was around) and couldn't get out.  You actually got swallowed in the foam which is great until you are old and can't move.

She is dying to cheer which I loved as a kid and never thought twice about the danger of the sport.  The only difference was I was not a tiny child that could fly in the air with ease.  That being said, I know I can not stop her from growing up and trying new things even when it hurts me to watch.  Instead, I will watch with pride and close my eyes until it is done and she is safely back on the ground.  I am sure that is what my mom and dad did in an attempt to let me be the best at what ever we wanted to be.

Crazy doesn't even describe this!

Ever wonder what my life looks like during a storm.  Here are a few pictures.  Jason was out of town and this was an ALL night storm so I did not get much sleep.  Picture one shows you that he is scared.  He always goes and stands over Kaylie the minute he hears thunder.  Picture 2 was me laying on top of him.  Picture three shows a heavy pillow and blanket on him and picture 4 was what I found at 2:30 when I just couldn't stay awake any longer.  At that point I realized the anxiety medicine had kicked in and he couldn't jump on Kaylie anymore allowing me to relax.  Not sure how making a nest on the toys is comfortable but when you are crazy anything is possible!  4:30 was the last time I checked on him before I finally gave up.  Pretty sure it stopped storming soon after.

FAC

Enjoying a very relaxed day at the pool before summer ended.  Was shocked at how empty the pool was.

Duct tape fixes everything!!!

When the doggy door broke and Jason was out of town.  What was a girl to do but pull out the duct tape.  Needless to say duct tape fixes everything!

Best buddies

I am not sure how sleeping with all her friends can be that comfy but apparently it is.

Last indoor soccer game

Indoor soccer was definitely different than outdoor.  That being said we really enjoyed it!!!  The ball very rarely goes out of bounds and the kids very rarely stop moving because of it.  The ball bounces off of walls giving all of the kids opportunities to kick the ball.  We saw a slight improvement in her skills and she seemed to walk away really liking it.  Pretty sure it helped it was inside and not out in the 100+ heat.

Camp Momawatche

One of our good friends has a family member that runs in home summer camps for families to help aid in keeping kids busy during the summer. With the Olympics on why not make it an Olympic themed camp.  The kids had a blast.  I am pretty sure Kaylie's favorite part was the ribbon routine on the balance beam.  Definitely a great way to keep the little ones entertained!

Future Olympian

Kaylie has been asking to do gymnastics for several months now and with the Olympics going on she has started to ask even more.  Feeling some mommy guilt we went ahead and did a trial class.  Needless to say she loved it.  Since the trial this is all she has talked about.  At the end of class her teachers came up and mentioned how impressed they were by her arm strength.  Woo hoo!

Target

I loved how she is taking care of Baby Puppy.  She insisted he be buckled like she is holding him in a baby carrier.

Puff balls

More pinterest creations.  We had a hard time getting the puff balls to stay down with glue so we switched to craft tape.  We worked hard on this to get them to work but had fun spending time together.

Hanging with the girls

Shiner has come to enjoy sleeping on Kaylie's bed especially when she is not in it.  This particular morning we found him hanging with the girls.  Kaylie had strategically placed each one before going to bed the night before.  Shiner decided he needed to keep them company while taking a little siesta.

Kaylie saw I was capturing this moment to send to her daddy and felt the need to get in the picture.  Shiner, not happy to be disturbed started to growl at her.

Oh wait...squirrel...I mean pancake.  Everything is better in Shiner's world now that he realizes Kaylie has a pancake and he might actually have a chance to get it from her.  Squirrely dog!!!  How did you get so much personality?!?

Glue crafts

Trying to find something to keep us busy while Jason was out of town for work I pulled up my good friend Pinterest for an evening of fun filled entertainment.  For this craft I took glue bottles that were 3/4 Th's filled and added tempura paints to each and shook them until mixed.  We then took the paint filled glue bottles and made pictures.  I was completely caught off guard by the amount of time she played with these.  She loved making pictures with them.  All said and done we made over 10 bottles of colored glue.  With several of our drawings we designed them with black so we could use water colors to paint the inside.  Definitely a hit at our house.

The picture below was her handy work.  Sadly, this was take number two because her first master piece fell face down on the floor when she was moving it from the table to the counter to dry.  This is her interpretation of Baby Puppy.  I think it is awesome.  Had to make sure I had a picture to remember this.

Chopped

I finally let go of my desire to keep her hair long and took her to get it chopped off.  She asked for it and promised to brush it herself so I couldn't argue.  I have become sick and tired of chasing a screaming child around the house with a brush before we leave the house.  I know at times I get the look because I opt not to fight the battle and just go out with her hair tangled. Hopefully this will solve the problem.  Fingers crossed!

Mr. Splash Dog

I found Mr. Splash dog at a garage sale over a year ago and bought him brand new for $2.  We had great intentions of playing with him but were too lazy to ever bring him out.  Now that we have, I am sad we didn't do it sooner.  The kids went nuts over this toy.  I enjoyed the fact that it watered my lawn.  Win, win for all involved.

Austin fun

Garrett had to do everything Kaylie did.  I am pretty sure his daddy is not going to like me for posting this :).

I love this women. She has been through a lot in the past few months and still managed to have a smile on her face.

Chuck E Cheese

Having fun at Chuck E Cheese on the fourth, celebrating a friends 5th birthday.
