Galveston 2011 pt 2

This is what vacation is about.  This was the view from our balcony.  I loved waking up, sitting on the porch with Jo and watching the waves.  Jo and I had some great early morning conversations before the rest were up.

Our house had some things for us to us at the beach.  The raft was one of the things we took advantage of.  At first Kaylie wanted nothing to do with it but after some time she warmed up to it.

We ended up finding the Barbie float and doll Barbie float at Walmart.  She loved it and spent a good amount of time having her float with her.

I ended up buying Jennifer a raft because she loves to float far out into the ocean. She ended up putting Kaylie on it and off they went.  Her first time on this was a lot better than in the boat.

Kaylie wanted to make sure her floatie didn't go anywhere so she made sure to put it in a safe place.

Galveston 2011

This year's trip to Galveston was a last minute decision that ended up turning into a week of pure relaxation.  We were able to stay in the same house we had stayed in the previous year so we knew what to expect.  We ended up getting in late Friday night and stayed until the following Thursday which is just enough time to really enjoy yourself and come back feeling rested.

Since we got in late Friday we decided to go out to the beach first thing Saturday.  At first she was super excited and rain into the water.  It only took her a few minutes to realize the waves hit hard and you would get knocked around if you weren't expecting them.  She ran out of the water and didn't go back for a good 30 minutes to an hour.  Right when she had decided it was time to try again a wave full of shell/baby clams washed up and began to bury themselves freaking her out yet again so we ended back at square one.  The thing that changed it was her Crocs.  Since she was scared of touching the shells her Crocs provided the barrier she needed and from that point on she was unstoppable.

We had so much fun watching her explore the ocean.  Each year she gets more fearless in the water.  This time she kept asking to go out deeper and deeper not caring that the waves were absolutely taking her out.  We loved how much she loved being there.

I loved this picture because you can see how much stuff we brought.  This year she got a big kid shovel and an even bigger wheel barrel for her sand because the pink one has become too small.

Kaylie and Great Grandma Jo

I feel like this is her, "watch out world her I come" pose.

Daddy putting on her Crocs so she can FINALLY venture into the water.

No trip to the beach is complete with out time to jump the waves.  She can wear daddy out with this.  Once it starts that is all she wants to do for the rest of her time.

Before we left for lunch they decided to play the X-Box Kinect.

Later that night we went to the strand for some shopping before dinner.  We found this old time candy/malt/ice cream store that specialized in making things in store.  On Saturday they actually made candy out for every one to see.  This place was fun and quite yummy!

Hawaiian Falls

This year Kaylie has become so much more adventurous when it comes to trying new things.  We have been going to the rec center to swim and she has loved climbing in the kids' area as well as going down the slides.  Her new favorite thing is going through the lazy river.  Using a life jacket she floats around as long as she wants.  Going swimming has now become a lot easier and more relaxing for me so when we were asked to go to Hawaiian Falls we took them up on the offer.  The girls had  a blast.  Next year we will definitely have to get a membership for the summer.  Her favorite part of the entire day was the wave pool.  She had never been in one before and she loved it.

Preschool play date

Before school started our preschool decided to have a play date for the kids to jump in bounce houses and enjoy yummy sno-cones while the parents turned in all the forms and tuition for the start of the school year.  This year Kaylie will be going to the same school as her good friend Grace which is nice for both of them going into the year already knowing someone.  Not sure if they will be in the same class yet but hopefully, they will at least get to see each other on the play ground.

Happy 4th

This year we spent the afternoon swimming and barbecuing at the Stall's.  Our little fish had a great time and didn't want to get out.  Happy 4th everyone!
