Galveston 2011

This year's trip to Galveston was a last minute decision that ended up turning into a week of pure relaxation.  We were able to stay in the same house we had stayed in the previous year so we knew what to expect.  We ended up getting in late Friday night and stayed until the following Thursday which is just enough time to really enjoy yourself and come back feeling rested.

Since we got in late Friday we decided to go out to the beach first thing Saturday.  At first she was super excited and rain into the water.  It only took her a few minutes to realize the waves hit hard and you would get knocked around if you weren't expecting them.  She ran out of the water and didn't go back for a good 30 minutes to an hour.  Right when she had decided it was time to try again a wave full of shell/baby clams washed up and began to bury themselves freaking her out yet again so we ended back at square one.  The thing that changed it was her Crocs.  Since she was scared of touching the shells her Crocs provided the barrier she needed and from that point on she was unstoppable.

We had so much fun watching her explore the ocean.  Each year she gets more fearless in the water.  This time she kept asking to go out deeper and deeper not caring that the waves were absolutely taking her out.  We loved how much she loved being there.

I loved this picture because you can see how much stuff we brought.  This year she got a big kid shovel and an even bigger wheel barrel for her sand because the pink one has become too small.

I feel like this is her, "watch out world her I come" pose.

Daddy putting on her Crocs so she can FINALLY venture into the water.

No trip to the beach is complete with out time to jump the waves.  She can wear daddy out with this.  Once it starts that is all she wants to do for the rest of her time.

Before we left for lunch they decided to play the X-Box Kinect.

Later that night we went to the strand for some shopping before dinner.  We found this old time candy/malt/ice cream store that specialized in making things in store.  On Saturday they actually made candy out for every one to see.  This place was fun and quite yummy!
