Future Olympian

Kaylie has been asking to do gymnastics for several months now and with the Olympics going on she has started to ask even more.  Feeling some mommy guilt we went ahead and did a trial class.  Needless to say she loved it.  Since the trial this is all she has talked about.  At the end of class her teachers came up and mentioned how impressed they were by her arm strength.  Woo hoo!

Target

I loved how she is taking care of Baby Puppy.  She insisted he be buckled like she is holding him in a baby carrier.

Puff balls

More pinterest creations.  We had a hard time getting the puff balls to stay down with glue so we switched to craft tape.  We worked hard on this to get them to work but had fun spending time together.

Hanging with the girls

Shiner has come to enjoy sleeping on Kaylie's bed especially when she is not in it.  This particular morning we found him hanging with the girls.  Kaylie had strategically placed each one before going to bed the night before.  Shiner decided he needed to keep them company while taking a little siesta.

Kaylie saw I was capturing this moment to send to her daddy and felt the need to get in the picture.  Shiner, not happy to be disturbed started to growl at her.

Oh wait...squirrel...I mean pancake.  Everything is better in Shiner's world now that he realizes Kaylie has a pancake and he might actually have a chance to get it from her.  Squirrely dog!!!  How did you get so much personality?!?

Glue crafts

Trying to find something to keep us busy while Jason was out of town for work I pulled up my good friend Pinterest for an evening of fun filled entertainment.  For this craft I took glue bottles that were 3/4 Th's filled and added tempura paints to each and shook them until mixed.  We then took the paint filled glue bottles and made pictures.  I was completely caught off guard by the amount of time she played with these.  She loved making pictures with them.  All said and done we made over 10 bottles of colored glue.  With several of our drawings we designed them with black so we could use water colors to paint the inside.  Definitely a hit at our house.

The picture below was her handy work.  Sadly, this was take number two because her first master piece fell face down on the floor when she was moving it from the table to the counter to dry.  This is her interpretation of Baby Puppy.  I think it is awesome.  Had to make sure I had a picture to remember this.

Chopped

I finally let go of my desire to keep her hair long and took her to get it chopped off.  She asked for it and promised to brush it herself so I couldn't argue.  I have become sick and tired of chasing a screaming child around the house with a brush before we leave the house.  I know at times I get the look because I opt not to fight the battle and just go out with her hair tangled. Hopefully this will solve the problem.  Fingers crossed!

Mr. Splash Dog

I found Mr. Splash dog at a garage sale over a year ago and bought him brand new for $2.  We had great intentions of playing with him but were too lazy to ever bring him out.  Now that we have, I am sad we didn't do it sooner.  The kids went nuts over this toy.  I enjoyed the fact that it watered my lawn.  Win, win for all involved.

Austin fun

Garrett had to do everything Kaylie did.  I am pretty sure his daddy is not going to like me for posting this :).

I love this women. She has been through a lot in the past few months and still managed to have a smile on her face.

Dress up time

Dress up time while watching friends so their mommy and daddy could have a night out.

Neuroopthamologist appointment

After last years scare with the minor brain surgery/pressure on the brain we were told to follow up with a neuro-opthamologist.  I was nervous not knowing exactly how she would do.  This appointment was significantly more in depth than anything she had been asked to do before and we needed this information to help us know if she had any pressure in her eyes and what was going on with her optic nerves from the year before.  Thankfully, she handled every thing, including the dilation like a champ.  She was so proud of the paper sunglasses they gave her she refused to throw them away.  All in all, her vision is great and their is no signs of pressure as of now.  We will follow up again in a year.  In regards to the disappearing optic nerves...the doctor said her nerves are crooked which makes them appear to disappear.  It is nothing to be concerned about.

Comfy Cozy

Quite often we find our dogs in the most random positions.  For Bailey this position is her favorite. She has done this since she was a baby.  With Shiner, you never know where he will be, what he will be on, and how he will be on it.  One night I found him on top of the mound of toys in her closet.  Not sure how that was comfortable but he found a way to make a nest.

First indoor soccer game

Not wanting to give on soccer we were told to try her in the indoor soccer league.  Many of the parents said they saw tremendous progress with their children during this time.  Today was her first game and she came away loving it.  She actively went for the ball and at times tried to kick it.  Already an improvement from before.  Lets hope this keeps up.  I think it helped that their are 10 to a team versus 8 in outdoor giving her more opportunity to rest.  Go Shamrocks!

Shiner's new outfit

After multiple storms and many of our things getting ruined we knew it was time to make "the purchase."  I had worried they would be rediculously expensive which was part of my hesitiation.  We researched which thing to get and the final decision was a "Thunder Shirt."  This shirt is designed for dogs with extreme anxiety.  It is supposed to help him become calmer in a situation such as a thunder storm.  Since Shiner is beyond extreme we just want it to make the situation more tolerable.  As of now the jury is still out.  Their is a faster recovery time which is great.  Stronger storms still cause problems but he sits more instead of paces.  He is yet to really be home alone during a storm to see if it would work then but hope not to have to figure that out any time soon.  It is much easier and he does so much better when we are here.

Summer time at the library

Sometimes planning things to do with little ones can be tricky especially when the weather doesn't decide to cooperate.  Thankfully we have a beautiful library to visit, play (quietly :), pick out books, and read.  The kids did just that.  They preformed a puppet show for the Three Bears, picked out books, and enjoyed sitting with each other while looking at what every one picked out.  We ended our day with lunch and more play time at Chick Fil A.  I am pretty sure by the time they all got home every little one was ready to have rest time.

A lazy day

A lazy morning laying on the bench at the foot of mommy and daddy's bed.  She was super comfy and didn't feel like moving.  Summer days seem to have caught up to her a little.

My professional mani/pedi

My future beautician and her painting of my nails.  The things we do for our children to make them feel
special.  I would have my toes look like this again if it meant seeing her happy.  Just know if you see me out...I didn't do it and I don't have the heart to take it off.

Music in the square

What a great way to celebrate a Friday night then with music in the square.  We enjoyed a nice dinner with friends and then sat on the lawn just relaxing.  Definitely a great way to spend the start of summer with the ones you love.
