Nassau Bahamas

The second day we woke up bright and early so we could get ourselves ready for our day at Nassau. Since we were not getting to port until 8:30 we had plenty of time to get ready and eat as well as have a little fun on the ship before we had to meet for our 10:45 excursion to the Atlantis Hotel.

As you look at the pictures of our entire trip you will start to see a trend of daddy holding Kaylie. This usually happens when we are in a new situation that Kaylie is scared or overstimulated in. If the two of us are their she will 99% of the time cling to her daddy. On this particular day we decided that daddy would go work out and K and I would go see all of the princess for pictures before we met back up for breakfast. As Jason tried to walk out the door K frantically clutched his leg screaming and yelling for him to stay. As the door quickly closed she walked over sobbing for daddy. As I held her I told her we were going to see the princesses. Up until now she has been really excited to see them. The first time we mentioned seeing them she would reply with, "A princess just like Kaylie?" The first time she said that we just about died laughing so when she started crying even harder I was confused. She quickly started whine/crying that she couldn't see the princesses because she didn't have her wand, her crown, or her shoes. Feeling so bad for her I crumbled and told her we would go to the store and buy her some. What I didn't know is that buying all of this for her meant spending a small fortune for us. I thought I could find something small and cheap. Small and cheap do not exist on the Disney ship. When Jason got back I told him what our ship board credit went to, the sad sob story, and the happiness it provided his daughter. He laughed and we both wished her a happy early birthday. The sad thing was that by the time we got in line to see the princesses it was easily an hour wait. Since I didn't even know if Kaylie would even go up to them I debated if it was even worth it. Thankfully one of the cast members came by and told us they would be back on our sea day. That was all I needed to hear before heading back to our room to wait for daddy to have breakfast.

One happy little girl. She decided to pick the Cinderella line. The wand is a special wand. The inside of the wand has a blue light that comes on. If you push it again it will flash. They had to make it worth your money.

They did not have her shoe size so we went ahead and got the one that was the closest to it. Needless to say they are still big but she still rocks them. It helps that her feet slid all the way in so they do not come off. The cute little heal doesn't even slow her down. She pretty much wore them around the ship the rest of the cruise.

Her pirate scope with her princess shoes. Definitely my girly girl tomboy. Perfect for both her daddy and me.

Disney Wonder...view as we walked to our bus to go to the Atlantis Resort.

The bus we were on had these seats that would fold out so people could sit in the aisle. She loved this. When we got back at the end of the day she remembered about it and insisted we let her sit there.

The resort has many different areas for sea life. This was a family of cow nosed sting rays. It was neat to watch them travel in a pack.

The Atlantis Resort. This hotel is huge. At this point we had already spent 20 minutes walking just to get from where we started to this bridge. Their were several pools, a water park, and several under ground aquariums. They had their own private beach access that covered a good amount of land. It was absolutely beautiful. Being a week day it was incredibly peaceful and serene.

Before going to the beach we decided to explore the under ground aquarium known as "The Dig." It was pretty cool to see all of the different types of fish they had. Kaylie seemed to enjoy it. The last time we went to an aquarium she was pretty scared so it was nice to see her up close to the tanks.

Way too many fish huddled together!!!

One very large and ugly fish.
During our tour of the aquarium Kaylie was starving. We tried to hold her off but Kaylie started to worry us when she would walk by a fish and tell us she would want a fish to eat. She would make an eating sign and say fish over and over. I told her it hurt the fishies feelings when she said she wanted to eat one.

See this bird...looks friendly right?!? Don't let the sweet innocent face fool you. They are the Swipers of the Bahamas. One was so daring he swooped in and grabbed a piece of fish from someone's plate while they were eating it. Here he is at the end of our table waiting for his chance to swipe a fish from Kaylie. Thankfully she was smarter then the bird and no goldfish were sacrificed. Unfortunately, a french fry was swiped from us. The fry took one for the rest of the team.

Kaylie and the bird having a staring contest. Kaylie won.

Anytime the birds would get close Kaylie would run towards them and roar. At one point she roared so loud we had to apologized to the other table eating. Thankfully, they found it cute and were grateful we had someone keeping them away. To us it was a way to keep her busy while we finished eating.

As part of our excursion we were given full access to the beach which included the chairs and towels. Definitely made things easier. We were so happy the weather was gorgeous. It was a perfect day to be at the beach and thankfully the water wasn't that cold. You could get used to it pretty quickly. The only problem with this beach was that your feet sunk really far into the sand both in and out of the water which made it very difficult to keep your balance in the water as the waves hit you. The other problem was that their was a very fast drop from shallow to deep so Kaylie was not willing to venture out very far...add the waves crashing up and she wanted nothing to do with the water. We thought our beach day was going to be short but were pleasantly surprised by her enjoyment of the bubbles and sand she got to play with.

Since we got to Cape Canaveral a day early we decided not to bring any beach toys with us so we went shopping the day we got there. She walked into Target, walked over to the dollar section and picked out exactly what she wanted with no hesitation. She had a blast playing with everything. We built sand castles, filled her pail up, dumped her pail out, and with water and spent a lot of

The beach angles straight down. The people in the water are standing pretty close to us and the water is almost up to their shoulders.

She became very excited when I pulled out the bubbles.

Right before we were about to leave. She is VERY tired.
Funny story...as we were getting ready to leave this older couple that seemed to be watching us for awhile came over and asked us for our chairs. The guy told us he had been wanting to ask us if we needed them because his wife was "allergic" to the sun and their weren't any available. We told him he was welcome to them and as we made small talk he told us that in previous years he would get angry because "those people from the cruise ships" would come and take all the chairs leaving the guests without one. We laughed and quickly informed him we were one of "those" cruise ship people. With a shocked look on his face we explained to him that "those" cruise ship people can take the chairs because they pay a premium to access the hotel services for the day. I am pretty sure he was lying when he told us that was good to know. The thing that Jason and I was wondering about was his wife...If she was "allergic" to the sun why had they already been out their for hours and why hadn't they found some shade or a way to reserve some chairs through the hotel. One of those hmmmm moments.

Tired girl...insisted on sitting in the extra seat.

Snuggling with daddy on the way back to our ship. On our way back we realized the other ship that was in port was a Holland America ship. Surprisingly it was the Noordaam which was the ship we took on our Mediterranean cruise. Definitely brought back good memories.

She is "supposed" to be taking a nap.

That night for dinner we ate at the Animator's Palate. This was our favorite restaurant. When you first walk in the entire room is black and white. As the meal progresses different parts of the room slowly light up until everything is lite up. It was a lot of fun to figure out which one was going to light up next. The detail was amazing.

For dinner we shared the table with another family. This particular night Jason and I put Kaylie in the daycare so we could enjoy our dinner. To our surprise we ended up being the only ones at our table. After a few minutes we were asked if we were Mr. and Mrs. so and so...we told them no and they walked away some what concerned. Soon after we heard the same names called over the loud speaker. Realizing it was our table mates we soon found out they were not on the ship and it was way past time to go. About 30 minutes later we left. It brought back another hmmmm moment. Were they on or not. Unfortunately we did not get an answer until the last day because the next night another family was at our table and the night after that their was even another. After running into them at lunch I got the story. Needless to say it was a good thing they didn't get left behind.

It was hard to get a really good picture that truly shows the effects of this restaurant.
Each cruise we have been on has two formal nights and the rest were business casual. You can tell this one takes into consideration that their are a lot of kids on this boat because this ships dinner attire was shorts and shirt for all but one dinner and then "church attire" for another. It made getting ready for dinner so much easier. I am pretty sure they do this because we are only at sea 1 of the 4 days and people do not have enough time to get dressed up.

Disney Wonder

On Sunday we woke up early and took the hotel transfer to the port. It was so incredibly easy. Not only did they take you there but they took care of our luggage as well. Once we got off we did not see them again until they were in our room.

Up until now Kaylie wanted nothing to do with Mickey's ship. When we woke up to get ready she finally said she was ready to get on and was excited to see Mickey and Minnie.

Waiting to get onto the boat. They had movies playing, snack bars, and Mickey and Minnie out for a picture.

Our first family vacation picture.

"Hooray" for Mickey's boat.

Apparently lil miss is scared to death of Mickey but no so much of Minnie so when Mickey went on his break and Minnie stepped in Kaylie wanted to see her.

It is hard to tell but she actually freaked out as we walked up to her. That is why she is with daddy placed as far out as she can be.

We tried for a hug but settled for a kiss that she blew to Minnie to say good bye. At least she looked back.

Once on the ship we immediately headed up to the nursery to make sure they had our times Kaylie would be there. We decided she would eat with us the first night but every night after that we had her there to play. It was the greatest thing we could have done. After one night of her climbing all around the table and chairs and almost becoming a few speed bumps for the waiters we realized she needed to be there. The best part was she would go in completely overstimulated and come back calm and ready to do something. It was quite enough for her to desensitize herself.

While we waited, we were the only ones on this floor so we took advantage of the long hallways in hopes that maybe she would take a nap in the room. It was definitely wishful thinking.

I love this picture. You can see her reflection in it.

Since Kaylie was not potty trained she was not allowed to be left without us in the kids club but could be in there with us. We took advantage of exploring this right away so she could have some time to play and get used to it before it was complete chaos. Their were some scary parts for her so being able to try things a bunch of times with out being pushed all over the place made it easier the next time we went to play.

This scared her but she doesn't give up.

Poor Mickey...she wanted nothing to do with him. She was terrified of him.

Emergency drill. I love the life jacket Kaylie got. It had sleeves and a hood for her. Everyone should have that. Any way...I was shocked. I really didn't think she was going to let us put it on her.

This is her "I have had enough pictures" pose. Even with that she didn't cry or throw a fit once.

Our setting sail deck party. Kaylie was overstimulated at first but began to get into it as the characters started to come out.

It impressed me how much they stressed movement. They were constantly dancing and encouraging everyone to join in.

Right after we pulled anchor we went to the front of the boat to watch us sail off. Kaylie really enjoyed herself. I was shocked.

The one meal she joined us with. I think she was only in her chair for about 5 minutes.

After dinner sunset.
Gift shop fun.
She had to have her pirates telescope.
Each night a new towel animal was on our bed. She would get so excited to see what it was. Shortly after the excitement wore off she would undo it, sit down on the bed and lick the chocolate before giving it to mommy or daddy to finish off.
When she saw her bed made and her animals out she screamed, dropped what she was doing, and jumped into be.

By the end of the trip and with no nap taken Kaylie would fall asleep in the most random places. This was during one of the shows. She was out cold.

Flying on an airplane

Disney, Disney, Disney, Disney...The past 10 days (May 1st through May 10th) we lived everything Disney. The first part was on a cruise ship named the Disney Wonder. It was an absolutely amazing ship. The second half was spent exploring Disney's 4 parks...Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. It has been so long since we have taken a trip of this kind and we were so excited. All said and done we were gone a total of 10 days.

Having flown before I was actually relaxed when it came to how Kaylie would do. The trick is to buy toys she has never seen and pull them out as needed. Having mastered wearing her "listening ears" was also a big part of keeping her entertained. Dora will forever be a part of our trips. Overall, she did an amazing job.

You will have to excuse the picture quality...they were all taken with my phone.

Sometimes I wonder what we were thinking. Thankfully, the people movers turned out to be a success. After a little slip we quickly figured out the best way to master them. Jason would get on, turn around and help her jump on. She refused to be held and would not let us take her back pack so this was the best solution. She is turning into such a big girl!

She absolutely loved her back pack. She was so proud to take it all over the airport. She refused to leave it even to go to the bathroom.

Already acting like a Diva. Should I worry?!?

"Flying in an airplane looking out the window..." I hate that Barney song but it helped comfort her during take off.

We decided to get into Cape Canaveral the day before so we were not rushed. It helped put us at ease and allowed Kaylie some time to adjust to not being at home. When we are away she doesn't eat or sleep well and becomes extremely hyper so allowing for some time to let it all sink in worked well.

That night we ended up going to a place called "Rusty's" for dinner. We sat on the porch and enjoyed the ocean while Kaylie played with some of the other kids at the restaurant.

The start of many, "no pictures mommy!" Apparently she doesn't like my camera.

Now that Kaylie is in a big girl bed it was some what stressful for Jason and I because we were not sure how her being in a BIG bed was going to work. She was so excited to see "her" bed and thankfully went to sleep fairly easy. We piled up pillows all around her and put her in the middle. She slept really well until she woke up the next morning and forgot where she was.

Listening Ears

In preparation for our trip we needed to get Kaylie used to head phones so she could watch movies on the plane. We tried this when we went to Colorado in September and she wanted nothing to do with it. This time she refused to watch a movie without them.
